Is there something your dad did for you that you still remember?
For me, there are a lot of things, but one story comes to mind right away. I was a teenager, driving home, and one of the wheels fell off my car.
Thankfully, there was no one else around, and I was able to pull over safely. I called my dad and tried to explain what had happened. He asked, “Did you have a blowout?” And I said, “No, I don’t have a wheel to blow out on. The whole thing is gone.”
So he drove out in his truck, picked me up, took me home, and then handled getting the car towed to the tire shop. I knew there would be a tow bill, a new tire, and probably some damage that needed to be fixed.
And even though I was still a teenager, I told him, “I can pay for it. I have a job. I can take care of it.”
But when I got to the tire shop, he had already paid for everything. The tow, the tire, the damage. It was all taken care of.
That was just so much like my dad. He always made sure my brother, my sister, and I were taken care of.
And I know not everyone had a dad like that. Maybe your dad was not in your life. Maybe he was, but he didn’t take care of you the way you needed. Maybe this kind of story is hard to hear.
But I hope you can hear this part: you do have a Heavenly Father who cares for you.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:26, “Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Your Heavenly Father knows what you need.
