You Don't Have To Feel Guilty For Resting

A few weeks ago, I got sick and had to take a few days off from work. My boss told me, "You need time to rest. Your body needs to heal." She was right, but I still didn't want to do it. Instead of letting myself rest, I kept thinking about the work I was missing and everything I wasn't getting done.

Then I was reminded of Mark 6. The disciples had been ministering to so many people that they didn't even have time to eat. Jesus saw how tired they were and said, "Come away with me to a quiet place and get some rest."

Jesus didn't make them feel guilty for needing a break. He knew rest was what they needed before they could keep going.

Healing takes place when we rest. Sometimes God also uses those quiet moments to prepare us for whatever is coming next. If God rested after creation, Jesus took time to rest, and the disciples needed it too, why do I sometimes think I shouldn't?
