Imagine walking down a pier and seeing the boat you were supposed to be on sailing away without you!
I saw a video like that last night. It was a ferry full of people heading to the other side, and there were people on the dock running after it, yelling, “Wait! Hold on!” They were supposed to be on that boat, but it had already pulled away. Some of them even jumped into the water and tried to swim after it, but the boat was moving too fast.
That picture stayed with me because it made me think about what it will be like when Jesus returns. There will be people who know Him, who have accepted Him, who are ready to go with Him. And there will be others who missed it.
I know for myself that I'll be on the boat. But then I started thinking, what if some of the people left behind were my friends? What if they were family members, coworkers, neighbors, or people I see all the time? What if they could have known Jesus, but I never told them? I don’t know that I have always done a very good job of sharing my faith.
But if Jesus is the way to eternal life, then telling people about Him is one of the most loving things we can do.
Romans 10:13-14 says, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?”
That verse makes it so clear: people need to hear. And God uses people like you and me to tell them.
