Overcoming Moments of Overwhelming Judgement.

Many people are talking about last night's National Anthem sung by Ingrid Andress during the MLB Home Run Derby.

The four-time Grammy nominee did not have a good night, in fact she's now apologizing for her performance saying, "I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition...."

Many of us have had an event where we weren't our best, or like Ingrid, we were under the influence. I know I have, but God... When we fall down, He is there to pick us back up!

So if you're trying to overcome an embarrassing situation, Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and remind yourself that everyone makes mistakes. Avoid beating yourself up: Remember all of your sins have already been forgiven. Jesus loves you just the way you are. Acknowledge your feelings: Own the situation or mistake and acknowledge what happened. Reframe the situation: Try to see the funny side or gain perspective about the mistake. Focus on the future: Use the situation as a lesson and learn from the past without getting stuck in it. "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is you who take refuge in Him!"

Praying that Ingrid finds the help she needs in rehab, and finds comfort in our Heavenly Father. There is always redemption available if we don't give up.
