He Said "You Don't Look Like You Have Cancer."

If you frequent a store you probably know the employees, and they know you.

That's the case at a local ma & pa store I shop at. But this week I had an interesting conversation with the clerk after he said, "health is wealth" and I responded, "Amen! Especially after my cancer journey."

He replied, "Wait? What cancer journey? How many years ago?!"

I told him it was recent with my surgery last October and my radiation treatments ending just a few months ago.

He was shocked. "Wait! I've seen you in my store dozens of times and you're always smiling and joyful. You didn't look like you've had cancer!"

I had to ask what I was supposed to look like and he replied, "You know. Downtrodden. Sad. Weak."

I told him that I know I'm going to die one day, but maybe not from cancer. I can't imagine walking around being sad. I have cancer but cancer does not have me, because God does. He said, "Really?" Yes, on those days that I'm struggling I turn to God and ask Him to give me His peace, to help me to believe what I say I believe, and every single night I'm able to sleep well. That's why I'm able to be joyful. I have joy in my heart because God is with me.

He seemed surprised and responded, "That's a pretty awesome God."

Amen!

By-the-way, my latest test showed the cancer to be undetectable. Praying it stays that way.
