God Puts People In Our Lives To Honk At Us | Morning Motivator

Who can honk at you without making you mad?

If it’s a stranger, a honk can feel pretty annoying. But if it’s somebody you know, it can mean something totally different. Maybe they’re saying hi. Maybe they’re telling you to hurry up. Maybe they’re trying to get your attention for a good reason.

That happened to me the other day. Caryn and I were pulling out of the driveway early in the morning, and it was still dark. She backed out first, and then I started backing out behind her.

Then she honked at me.

I stopped and looked up, and there was a car coming down the street. Caryn had stopped for it, and I was about to back right into her in our own driveway.

That honk saved me from making a pretty dumb mistake.

It made me think about the people God puts in our lives who are willing to “honk” at us sometimes. They love us enough to say something when we’re headed in the wrong direction, even if we don’t really want to hear it.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.”

I need people like that in my life. People who will encourage me, pray for me, and also speak up when they see something I don’t see.

The correction may not always feel good in the moment, but sometimes that person is trying to keep me from crashing into something I could have avoided.
