Is living for Jesus boring or exciting?
A pastor asked that question this week, and it really made me think. I started picturing the difference between the players in a game and the fans sitting in the stands.
As a fan, I can get a snack. I can talk to the person next to me. I can look at my phone and get distracted. I’m watching the game, but I’m not really part of it.
The players on the field are having a completely different experience. They’re focused. They’re ready. They’re watching for what happens next.
Same stadium. Same game. Two very different experiences.
And it made me ask myself, am I in the game, or am I sitting in the stands?
Because I don’t want to just watch other people live out their faith. I want to be part of what God is doing. I want to share Jesus with my friends and family, and even with people I may meet in the middle of a normal day.
That’s where things get exciting.
Romans 10:13-15 says, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?”
People need to hear about Jesus. And God uses people like you and me to share the good news.
So I’m asking myself again: am I in the game, or am I sitting on the sidelines?
I want to be in the game.
