A Post-Election Prayer.

The election is over! Some people are celebrating, while others are not.

So how do we come together as Americans? We pray.

I want to share this prayer from my friend pastor Collinsworth, "O God who was and is and will always be, we pray this day for our nation as we receive the news of election outcomes. We pray for those who are celebrating, those who consider themselves winners, that they would be gentle, kind, and compassionate with those who are sad and grieving. We pray for those who consider themselves losers, that they would be gentle, kind, and compassionate with those who are glad or relieved. Give us your strength - the strength, perhaps the only strength, that can keep us from gloating, taunting, demeaning, demonizing the "other." Let your holy Word, O God, especially Jesus' words from the Gospel, be our source of guidance, strength, and hope for the future. Help us to be leaders in demonstrating unity in our words, thoughts, and actions. This and so much more, we humbly pray. Amen."
