Dust has a way of telling on you.
If you miss dusting for a few days, you may not notice much. But give it a couple of weeks and suddenly it is everywhere. I can see it on the hardwood floors, on my desk, even on my workout bench... which probably says something about how long it has been since I used that too.
Dust shows you what has not been touched in a while.
And if I’m honest, there have been seasons in my life when my Bible could have told the same story. I was not reading it like I used to. I was not praying like I used to. Somewhere along the way, I had just drifted.
But this is what I love about God: you can come back.
You can pick up that dusty Bible, open it, and His Word still has the power to speak to you. You can start praying again, even if it feels awkward at first, and God is still there. You do not have to clean yourself up first or make up for lost time.
James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
I think that is such a comforting promise.
No matter how long it has been, you can start again today. Open the Bible. Talk to God. Take one small step toward Him.
