You Won't Do This Perfectly, and That's Okay | Morning Motivator

I got one of those Amazon Kids Christmas catalogs in the mail, and on the very back there was a Connect the Dots puzzle. I haven’t done one of those in years, so of course I had to try it.

At first, I was trying to guess what the picture was going to be. I thought it looked like a bat, which would be kind of strange for a Christmas catalog. It turns out it was a fox wearing a scarf, which made a lot more sense.

As I started connecting the dots, though, my lines were not exactly beautiful. Some were too straight when they probably should have curved. I was slow trying to find the next number, and at one point I completely missed a step and had to go back.

It made me think about how our walk with God can feel sometimes. We want to get it right. We want to follow Him well. But there are days when our steps feel awkward, clumsy, or out of order. Sometimes we miss something and have to go back.

Psalm 37:23-24 says, “The Lord guides us in the way that we should go and protects those who please Him. If they fall, they will not stay down because the Lord will help them up.”

I love that reminder because it takes some of the pressure off. God is not asking us to walk through life perfectly. He is asking us to keep following Him.

The picture may not make sense to us while we are in the middle of it, and our lines may not look very smooth. But if we keep letting Him guide our steps, He is still at work in the whole picture.
