Sometimes it really can feel like the cards are stacked against you.
I sent an email to a friend recently, and in his reply he said, “I feel like my work environment is toxic, and my coworkers are trying to force me out.” Maybe you can relate to that, either from where you are now or from a job you had in the past.
Work is already hard enough sometimes. You’re trying to show up, do a good job, provide for your family, and be faithful with what is in front of you. Add in the feeling that the people around you don’t think you belong there, and that can wear you down pretty quickly.
His situation reminded me that God does not make mistakes. If the Lord has opened a door, I do not have to spend all my energy trying to prove I deserve to be there. I can stay humble, keep serving faithfully, and trust Him with the people and circumstances I cannot control.
1 Corinthians 1:27 says, “God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”
That verse reminds me that God has never depended on human approval to accomplish His purposes. He can use the person others overlook. He can strengthen the person others underestimate. He can keep a door open that somebody else would rather see closed.
That does not mean every hard situation will turn out exactly the way I want, but it does mean I do not have to fight every battle on my own. I can keep doing what is right, keep trusting God, and let Him handle what is beyond me.
So if life feels stacked against you right now, remember this: God is not confused about where He placed you, and He is not limited by who is against you.
Stay faithful, and let Him fight the battles you were never meant to carry alone.
