Let’s be honest – people aren’t always easy to love. And when I feel that tension, I have to stop and ask myself: What’s my motivation here? Is it to be right? To get my way? Or is it to reflect God’s love?
At the end of 1 Corinthians 10, Paul says, “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Then he takes it a step further – he’s not seeking his own good, but the good of many, so that they may be saved.
That means living in a way that helps others see Jesus more clearly – even if it means sacrificing my comfort, preferences, or pride. Seeking my own good might look like proving a point or holding a grudge. But seeking the good of others? That looks like grace, patience, and pointing people to the One who saves.
That’s the kind of motivation I want driving me today.
