Waiting For A Change Of Season

Waiting for fall to really start in North Texas is a bit like waiting for a big life change: it feels like it's never going to happen. We're still dealing with 90-degree days when all I want is to feel that chill in the air that lets me wear my favorite flannel and enjoy a pumpkin spice latte. It's tough when you're ready for a new season and it just isn't arriving.

The Bible talks about this in Ecclesiastes 3:1: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens..." This verse reminds us that everything happens at the right time, even if we can’t see it all. But waiting? It's hard. We don't know when things will change, and that can be really frustrating.

When I get impatient, I find comfort in Jeremiah 29:11: "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" So even if it's taking a while, I try to remember that the new season will come exactly when it's supposed to, both in the weather and in life.
