Have you ever walked into a room and not wanted to turn the light on because it was just going to be too bright?
That’s how I feel in the mornings sometimes. We get up so early for work, and I’m not always ready for bright lights yet.
This morning, I walked into a room to get a pair of shoes. I thought about leaving the light off, but I also didn’t want to stumble around or hit my head on something, so I flipped the switch.
And yes, I found the shoes. But I also noticed some papers sitting on a table that I had completely forgotten about, that I needed for work that day.
I actually said, “Thank You, Lord!” out loud because I was so glad I turned on the light. I went in looking for one thing, and the light helped me see something else I really needed.
It reminded me how much we need light to see clearly in life too.
John 8:12 says, “Jesus said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”
Jesus helps us see what we might otherwise miss. He shows us where to go, what matters, and sometimes even things we didn’t realize we needed to notice.
I’m glad I turned on the light this morning.
And I’m even more thankful I don’t have to walk through life in the dark.
