I just love when you can see God moving in people's lives. And lately, it's been happening on the Baylor football team. Every Wednesday, they do something called “Word Wednesday,” where one of the players shares what he’s been learning in Scripture. And this week, one of the guys, Matthew, talked about baptism, how it’s an outward expression of an inward transformation.
And then, what made it even sweeter, is that this week the team actually held a baptism service. Ten players were baptized... not by pastors or coaches, but by their teammates who are already following Jesus. Some were giving their lives to Christ for the first time. Others were rededicating their faith. And it all happened in this simple, meaningful moment outside of the typical church setting.
These are young men who spend so much time working hard, competing, pushing themselves physically and mentally. And yet here they are, choosing to publicly say, “My identity is in Jesus first.” That just really encouraged me today.
