I don’t know if you’ve noticed the moon the past couple of days, but it has been big and full and bright.
Jeremy and I were driving to work around 4:30 in the morning, and we were talking about how beautiful it looked. Jeremy made the comment, “That’s proof that the sun exists.”
And really, it is.
The moon doesn't create its own light. It shines because it reflects the light of the sun. That made me think about what our lives are supposed to look like as followers of Jesus.
We are not the source of the light... God is. But we have the opportunity to reflect His light and His love into a world that can feel pretty dark sometimes.
For some people, you may be one of the clearest pictures they ever see of what God is like. The way you treat them, the way you forgive, the way you show kindness, the way you live with hope... all of those things can point back to Him.
Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
I like that picture because the moon does not have to work hard to prove the sun is there. It simply reflects the light it has received.
Maybe that is the reminder for us too. Stay close to Jesus, let His light fill your life, and then reflect it wherever He has placed you.
