Rooted In Christ

Nothing survives without roots. Now I know that's not really revelation knowledge, but it was to me in the moment, standing in the women's restroom.

In our work restroom, there's always a single flower floating in a glass vase by the sink. This week, it was a rose, which looked stunning at first but quickly wilted without its roots. It reminded me of how we also need to stay connected to our life source: Jesus. Just like that rose needed a stem and roots, we thrive on connection with Him - through prayer, Scripture, and community. Without it, we're just like that flower, beautiful but fleeting. Here's a powerful reminder from Job:

"At least there is hope for a tree: if it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail. Its roots may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, yet at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant." (Job 14:7-9)

Just as a tree can flourish again with water, so can we when rooted in Christ's love.
