I doubt you’d recognize Dan Meers if you passed him at the grocery store. But if you’ve watched a Kansas City Chiefs game anytime in the last 35 years, you’ve definitely seen his work. Dan was the man inside the KC Wolf mascot suit: bringing joy to fans, visiting hospitals, encouraging kids, and staying totally anonymous the whole time.
His story got me thinking. Dan’s whole job was to make someone else the star. And honestly? That’s how I want to live. Not to make myself famous, but to use my gifts and energy to make Jesus known.
Paul said it best in Acts 20:24: “I consider my life worth nothing to me. My only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”
That’s the legacy I want to leave. Not about me, but about the One who saves.
