Have you ever looked up and realized way more time had passed than you thought?
That happens to me pretty easily with my phone. Games, social media, little things that don’t seem like a big deal in the moment. Just yesterday, I told Jeremy I had to delete two apps because they were stealing too much of my time.
Then I stopped and realized that wasn’t completely true.
They weren’t stealing my time... I was giving it to them.
And it’s not just phone apps. There are a lot of things in life that are not necessarily bad, but they can still take up more space than they should. Sometimes I realize there were things I wanted to get done, people I wanted to spend time with, or time I wanted to give to God, and I just gave that time somewhere else instead.
Ephesians 5:15-16 says, “Be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of the days because the days are evil.”
I think that’s a good reminder for me to pay attention to where my time is going.
Not everything has to be productive every second of the day. Rest matters too. Fun matters too. But I don’t want to look back and realize I kept giving away my time to things that didn’t really matter.
