How To Dodge Distractions

You may have heard this old saying: “Satan doesn’t have to make you bad if he can make you busy.” I was reminded of that the other day.

Distractions are sneaky. They don’t always look like temptations; sometimes, they look like good things... just not the best thing. Like when I start a new book, only to find another one I also want to read. Suddenly, my focus shifts, and I never finish what I started.

The same happens in our faith. We’re called to share Jesus, to grow in Him, but life tugs us in a hundred directions.

That’s why Philippians 3:13-14 says, “Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Paul reminds us that staying focused on Jesus takes effort. It’s an intentional pressing forward, ignoring distractions that pull us away.

So what’s pulling at your focus today? Keep your eyes on the goal. Jesus is always worth it.
