"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing." Psalm 23:1
It's fascinating when you consider that King David, who wrote this, started out as a shepherd boy. He knew firsthand what it meant to care for sheep, to guard and guide them. So, for David to describe God as his shepherd, that's quite a statement. He's saying he felt valued and protected by God, much like he cared for his own sheep.
It's a powerful picture, isn't it? God as our shepherd, guiding and protecting us. It reminds us that in His eyes, we're important and looked after, especially when life gets overwhelming.
