Growth in the Waiting

Where’s your favorite spot to see bluebonnets (feel free to let me know)? When my wife and I moved to the Lone Star State just 7 months ago, everyone kept telling us, “Oh, wait until you see the bluebonnets! You’re going to love ‘em.” So, we were waiting to see our first… and waiting… and waiting. We started seeing them at the end of March and now we point them out and yell, “BLUEBONNETS!” when we’re driving.

I’ve been thinking a lot about our state flower and how we sometimes HAVE to wait for something. Bluebonnets start to slowly sprout in fall, go through winter, which can be harsh on them, then suddenly spring comes and BLOOM! But in all that time, there’s waiting, there’s growth. God sometimes has us in a waiting period, but there’s growth in it.

"But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." Romans 8:25
