Philippians 4:13 is one of those verses I’ve heard and repeated a lot: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
I usually think of that verse as a victory verse, and it is. But lately I’ve been thinking about what it also implies.
There are going to be times when I do not feel strong enough for what is in front of me.
There will be seasons that wear me down, stress me out, or leave me wondering how I am supposed to keep going. There may be situations I cannot fix and answers I do not have. Sometimes I really am going to reach the end of my own strength.
That is where this verse becomes even more meaningful to me: Paul is not saying I will always feel strong. He is reminding me where my strength comes from when I do not.
There may be hard days when I have to keep trusting God without understanding what He is doing. There may be seasons when I have to be patient longer than I want to be. But I do not have to carry all of that in my own strength.
Christ gives me what I need for the day in front of me.
So if you feel weak today, that does not mean you are failing. It may simply be a reminder to lean harder on the strength that comes from Jesus.
