Last week was one of THOSE weeks for me. Work came home with me, there was not much rest, and by the time the weekend got here, I was pretty thankful for that extra hour of sleep.
But as quickly as the weekend came, it felt like it was gone again. And it made me realize how much I tend to rank my days.
Monday usually does not score very high. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are a different story. Those are the days I look forward to, and somehow they always seem to go by faster.
But I started wondering if that is really how God wants me to think about my time.
Every morning I wake up is another day He has given me. If I get to go to work, it means He has given me the health, strength, and ability to do something useful. Even an ordinary Monday is still a day I did not earn and was not promised.
Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
I think I need that reminder more than I realize. I can spend so much time waiting for the next weekend, vacation, or easier season that I miss the gift of the day I am already in.
Monday may not feel as fun as Friday, but it still came from God. So I want to get better at receiving each day for what it is: another opportunity to know Him, serve Him, love people, and be grateful I got another day at all.
