Have you ever had one of those moments where life feels pretty calm, and then all of a sudden it seems like everything starts going wrong at once?
That happened to me this week. I noticed our patio was cracking, and I knew we needed to get somebody to look at it pretty quickly. But as soon as I started thinking about that, I also started thinking about all the other things that needed attention. The car. Wisdom teeth for our son. Repairs. Appointments. Expenses. The list kept getting longer, and the more I added to it, the more expensive it all felt.
And I could feel the anxiety starting to build.
I woke up this morning with Psalm 46:10 on my mind, where God says, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
I needed that reminder because I had started looking at the whole list like it was all on me. I was trying to figure out how to fix everything, pay for everything, schedule everything, and solve everything, and without even realizing it, I had left God out of the equation.
So maybe the prayer today is simple: Lord, help me be still long enough to remember who You are. Help me bring You back into the equation before I let anxiety take over.
