Getting the flower beds ready for spring has me thinking about roots. I planted some new shrubs, and the instructions said they needed well-drained soil – because even a healthy plant, sitting too long in bad soil, will develop root rot. The plant might look fine on the outside for a while, but damage is happening underneath.
It got me thinking about my own life. Who I'm around, what I take in, the influences I let settle into my heart – it all matters. In 1 Corinthians 15:33, it says, "Do not be misled: bad company corrupts good character."
The roots you don't see will eventually shape the fruit that you do.
