His Cross - Our Hope

ARLINGTON, TX (KCBI News) – The Cross of Jesus Christ is the pivotal event in human history. As part of KCBI's efforts to help prepare your hearts for Easter Sunday, we're offering a series of stories called "His Cross-Our Hope."

One of the most respected Bible scholars and voices in Chrisitan broadcasting shares three thoughts to consider about what Jesus accomplished on the Cross.

"First of all, we're all at the same level at the foot of that Cross. Second, we're all covered in the blood that was poured out for us on that Cross," Chuck Swindoll, host of Insight for Living and pastor of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, starts.

"In addition to that, the Cross was the place where the completed work of Christ took place. It is finished. It didn't just mean His life; it meant the payment for sin."

And though hope for the Christian is rooted in the Cross of Christ, one Christian financial adviser says too many believers don't live in that hope when times get tough. Derrick Kinney, with Derrick Kinney and Associates, says Holy Week is the perfect time to re-redirect our thoughts to Him who is our hope at all times.

"When I think about the hope of the Cross, it's an eternal hope that we will see him face to face one day. But also in times of adversity, times of uncertainty, economic peril, job loss -- all of those things -- it's important for us to stay tethered to the anchor that God is our provider, and He gives and he takes away," Kinney explains.

"Ultimately, He is in control."
